i wouldnt mind the ranged & cav so much if it werent for the completely blind balancing that doesnt take builds into consideration.

More often than not, I am AGAINST the team that autobalance just put EVERY SINGLE RANGED AND CAV PLAYER on.  And nearly just is bad is BEING on THAT team, the ranged have killed any and everyone before I get to them so I'm left standing around doing nothing or running from corpse to corpse aimlessly.

I also think it is game breaking and poor balance that someone can stow a bow & arrow and draw a sidearm in less than 1 second.  Stowing a weapon, especially one without a sheath/scabbard needs to take far far longer than it currently does.  Insta-stow & sidearm draw negates the value of sneak attack or chasing down ranged players just to have them conjure a sidearm instantly and play rope-e-dope while the multiple other ranged just plink away at you.

You know you are making a comparison between polearms, 1h, and 2H weapons, right ? Also, if it was so powerful, everyone would use it, it isn't the case at all, since there are only spears, poleaxes/bardiches, pikes/longspears, and the bec de corbin that are widely used. No need to change anything on this weapon, since everything huscarlton posted are real drawbacks that penalize you if you take this weapon over higher tier polearms.

well since you are a mental retard let me spell it out for you....it was comparing other weapons that do that amount of damage, 30 pierce...which can 2 shot most players

30 pierce on a weapon that costs 4k and has 126 reach and 96 speed?  Overpowered much?

Here is a little diagram I made to compare weapons with similar damage to the club.  Note that the SPEAR weapon, designed for thrusting and made with a 4" metal forged head does less pierce damage than a wiffleball bat w/nails in it.

Similar to how MMO's compare stats on equipment you have equipped:  Green values means that weapon does better than the LSC where RED means it is WORSE

increase IF to 3-4 HP per and/or give it the ability to add to your armors soak value.  The more IF you have, the more effective it should be, ramping up in in a curve instead of linear progression

Reared your horse once because you had been shadowing our teams frontline for like 2+ maps getting old and making everyone on your team deaf to the sound of other teams horses that were a real threat murdering us by the dozens, while you trot along doing jack shit for the team watching everyone die.

Reared your horse again accidentally because I'm paranoid and you were heading in my direction.

Kicked without warning.  Was it a huge deal, no not exactly and yes I did deserve it to _some_ degree.

Maybe next time a warning is in order before you go doing whatever you please because you are taking things personally.  If I had done this to anyone else I wouldnt have gotten kicked.  There is a reason why it takes 5 reports to boot someone from server, just like Planetside grief system.

For the record I have no problem with most of the things Fips has done, nor was I under the impression this thread was for anything other than map voting, I was simply pointing out that trying to fix siege is a losing battle, because a) even if we manage it the result will simply be a dead battle server (which I personally am fine with) and b) the main problem is the communities mindset, not necessarily any maps. Siege has simply never been more popular than battle in NA.

Wrong, NA siege used to frequently have more players than battle by a very very wide margin (typically DOUBLE).  Back in the hay day of DL, which was like the first appearance of a sizable noticable banner stack.

And different people have different playstyles.  How are you to know the population wont grow if there is a constant and reliable siege server up?  How many people have quit playing the mod due to frustration with s-key hero, HA & cav rape on battle?  How many have quit do to lack of teamwork by clans or an objective to accomplish?

Think the term you are looking for is ablative.  Interesting and I like the idea myself, but hard to implement & balance in games.  Would love to see plate actually offer protection from most weapons and degrade as it takes damage.

Minecraft has been out longer than 2013, it was released in late 2011...so you're missing a whole year of earnings in 2012. 

But I agree with you, highly doubt they'll get their money back and would have been much cooler to see them fund indie games under some new banner.
I guess this is just Microsofts way of buying into the market at a loss to try and get marketshare and rep/street cred.

I at least like direction new CEO is taking Microsoft.

Very good post by OP, very valid points about weapon & equipment costs.  Strat really needs its own price adjustment, hopefully somewhat based on reality (cost & rarity of materials, labor involved in creation, etc).

No reason why spears & pikes should cost anywhere near as much as swords, etc

what if you set throwing weapon weights to 0 or very very small, as a temporary fix?  Would that affect them in melee as well?

Or a way to make it so you only get charged once per TYPE of throwing weapon.  So if you carried 3 sets of axes, you only get charged for one....vs if you bring lance & daggers, you'd get charged weight of both of them.


Also, shouldnt this thread be in game balance discussion now

No problem guys, it wasn't all that difficult to do... I just prepared a text document that was 95% copy pasta, and the plan was just to copy n paste snips of that document into individual posts. I could have pumped out a single post in 5 seconds tops, but the stupid anti-spam time limit really screwed that plan up.  :?

And I must say, judging from the results so far... I'm gonna be missing some of those maps.  :cry:  Some maps I thought might be maybe an even 50-50 split are completely one sided... interesting things be happening. I'm tempted to make a "going once, going twice" post on all the ones you guys are giving the boot that I personally think are acceptable, if for no other reason than variety. :D

Well now that you are boss, i would encourage you to make SMALL regular rotation changes.  Like 1 controversial/debated map a week and see how if/how the feedback changes at all.
