Why is your enemy low rank + Why are you just level 4 ?

MM goes mad during majors - My guess at any rate.

Rank 4 as hit level 40 already and going round again . (Can tell as his pin is the "hit level 40" one.) :)

Havent played since 4 months or so, me and tenne just suddenly stopped. Been considering picking it up again so many times, but other things keep showing up.

Yeah, sorry about that - would like to get back into it again.

On a side note, will be working in the US again early December so if any Americans near Cali fancy playing, give me a shout. :)

Hey all,

Been a while since I've reared my ugly head!

I hope everyone is doing okay and sorry I've not checked in more often, been really busy with being attacked by the real world.

:)

Munin said that he couldn't handle the project, I guess I didn't tell everyone. Sorry! :)

Please for the love of god, if you own a 3ds get this game. It's so gooood, im around 90 hours in and still not even close to bored, hell its just getting more and more fun.

I feel like I shouldn't really reply to this since it's just the two of us in this thread, but I agree, it would be great to have four people who know what they're doing in a team! You don't have to play it for a long time either, it's quite nice as a pick up and play, I regularly play during my lunch breaks, I get one or two missions in depending on how well I'm playing.

I'm ready now, although I do have a rare gore magala expedition. :D

If you still are up for playing, i need to rank up my gathering hall badly its still hr1 heh. I'll be up anytime after 20:00 (swedish time)

Just got home from work, cooking dinner. Probably be available around 20:00 UK time, which is 21:00, for you I believe.

For me its a 1 jump hit for the mount each time, even against gore magala. Second is like 2 or 3 hits, if you have a small ledge then its generally easy to bait them right infront of it. I guess it seems really strong but then i could probably kill the monster with ease even without mounting.. It does help a ton with breaking parts, the only chance i had of breaking Gravios back was to mount it multiple times, and when it dropped id just stab his face to break that aswell. Got his full armor set to look like a rock, and tank like a mountain.

Also, if we can round up people on friday or something we could go for a big hunt chain together. Vanguards is unfortunately full of scrubs and no one owns the game... yet

I know of no one else who owns the game, practically everyone at work has a 3DS but half of them haven't even heard about Monster Hunter... I would be more than happy to join though, hopefully our continued bumping of this thread might coax out some other people who are interested.

I haven't really fought things more than once, so I'm kind of mish-mash on my armour... Ceanataur Mail, Tassets & Greaves is about as consistent as I get. Not really too enamored with any of the armour styles quite yet, although I might start "grinding" for the Lobos stuff, since that's what I wore in 3. :)

I love figuring out new moves or ways to use a weapon, theres a counter attack with lance that first blocks then stabs, i just realized it can combo in as part of the regular attacks. I always had the problem of getting hit if i finished my 1-2-3 stab then couldnt dodge far enough, but now i can just stab 1-2 and then counter as 3 if i see an attack coming. Neverending offense. Really loving lancing, but might pick up something more like hunting horn or dual blades later on if i get bored.

Btw do you think mounting might be leaning towards being OP? Seems way too strong imo, first jump mounts, then you need 2 or something and you get another mount. If you succeed them both thats a crap ton of free damage.

Plenty of the stronger monsters don't always go down even if you hit them properly so I think with the earlier monsters, it's to teach you it can be done without punishing you heavily. Plus for a few of the faster monsters, actually landing a hit can be difficult in the first place. :) For the weaker stuff, it certainly is a little OP, but that's fine, but you can't rely on it all the time, I tend to attempt it when my charge blade has full phials and I've overcharged the shield, so that I can unleash the devastating attack on a stationary target.
I suppose it's all part and parcel with how you utilise it, rather than just trying it every five seconds.

OMG I just nearly had a heart attack fighting the kind of main story boss Gore Magala. Fought for like 35 minutes, scavenging all the healing i can get on the map, using 10 mega potions, and then getting honey to make my other potions into another 10 megas, and using all of them aswell. Also using a couple of herbs here and there, but forgot to bring a full pack of them. Anyways after the very last mega potion chugged i just go in, final effort this has to be it. And the fucker dies. What a fucking fight, most difficult fight ive had in MH series yet. And this was after 2 failures before, i could probably have made it slightly easier with some better armor though. And im not sure lance was the best weapon to fight it with.

Yeah, I fought the Gore Magala a little before I posted here yesterday, certainly the most difficult fight I've ever done, failed too many times for my liking too but it certainly felt great when I won. :P The damage he was dealing was huge, 75% in one hit, plus that irritating poison, even with a charge blade, it was a shaky close fight.

Everything else seems run of the mill now.

Awesome, im up for playing anytime. Currently pretty low since i just got the game on friday and ive been sick all weekend. I also disliked the underwater and them kind of replacing it with layered levels and jumping attacks is way way better implemented and smoother. So far i got to say, all the reused monsters from previous games feel very fresh with new movesets.

Currently lancing my way through, 4star solo quests atm, probably going to play all day tomorrow so ill get quite a bit higher.

Friendcode is: 0018-2610-9326

Excellent, I am also on the 4 star solo stuff right at this moment so we're about equal.

Also for reference if anyone wants to add me; 0877-2978-5763 is my friend code, feel free to add me. :)

Been playing it almost every free second I have since release day, the movement feels so much smoother and I was not a fan of the underwater mechanics of MH3U so I'm enjoying the fighting much more being able to dart about much faster.

If anyone fancies doing some multiplayer at some stage (those who got themselves a copy) I'd be up for a bit of monster murder on the weekends. :)

Currently trying out weapons and such like - more or less settled on the charge blade, just feels like it has the right balance of movement & power for my terrible skill level. Really quite low still though. The addition of the expeditions as well is brilliant, enjoying learning all the various things in there too.

Not really got any gripes about it either, maybe a little irritated with some of the monster's attacks but that's just a case of getting used to how to avoid them.

Contract says 41,5h/week, feels like 50, reality are around 43 - ain't too shabby. Departmed Head in a Furnishment-Store (retail basically).

It's been three weeks and I'm already shattered; all I do is sit at a desk & tap on a keyboard for 37.5 hours per week. Also, I doubt you have any issues with staff acting up.

Err, depends, you can skip all cut scenes etc, you don't have to do perma-death and you can ignore a lot of the randomly spawned enemies alongside any other players that show up if you have set up street pass and there are various speed changes you can do for the combat, e.g. you can skip the entire enemy & allied turns if you don't care what they're doing, you can stop the fight cut scenes too and just have the output show up instantly or you could simply just speed things up.

The game itself so far, not including my failures has taken me 18 and a half hours on hard (non perma-death) having attacked everything that has spawned, including side quests. I've found it great for drop in, drop out type game play, doing a fight or two then putting it down as the story conversations aren't that long, you really aren't left waiting for things to move on.

Zotte's recommendations are right the majority of the time, but if his recommendation is unconvincing, I shall add mine to his as well.
