... and all the other things floating around out there / Ouj Reviews...
« on: February 02, 2016, 09:15:13 pm »
Hello peeps.

For the past few months I've been doing video game reviews on Youtube so I figured I'd make a thread for it in case anyone wanted to take a look.

This is my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcPzsHOiJG68at0W_M1OSDw

I'm intending on doing a review a week which is pretty tough on the wallet so I've been doing some retro reviews in the mean time as well to keep the productivity going and my most recent one is of Banjo-Kazooie which is here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNWChNqDc-A

If anyone has any ideas for stuff to review let me know!

Has anyone got this? I picked it up and it's quite fun but I'm not sure how far the content will stretch.

General Off Topic / Steam Refunds!
« on: June 03, 2015, 12:42:39 pm »
Steam Refunds
You can request a refund for nearly any purchase on Steam—for any reason. Maybe your PC doesn't meet the hardware requirements; maybe you bought a game by mistake; maybe you played the title for an hour and just didn't like it.

It doesn't matter. Valve will, upon request via help.steampowered.com, issue a refund for any reason, if the request is made within fourteen days of purchase, and the title has been played for less than two hours. There are more details below, but even if you fall outside of the refund rules we’ve described, you can ask for a refund anyway and we’ll take a look.

You will be issued a full refund of your purchase within a week of approval. You will receive the refund in Steam Wallet funds or through the same payment method you used to make the purchase. If, for any reason, Steam is unable to issue a refund via your initial payment method, your Steam Wallet will be credited the full amount. (Some payment methods available through Steam in your country may not support refunding a purchase back to the original payment method. Click here for a full list.)

Where Refunds Apply
The Steam refund offer, within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime, applies to games and software applications on the Steam store. Here is an overview of how refunds work with other types of purchases.

Refunds on Downloadable Content
(Steam store content usable within another game or software application, "DLC")
DLC purchased from the Steam store is refundable within fourteen days of purchase, and if the underlying title has been played for less than two hours since the DLC was purchased, so long as the DLC has not been consumed, modified or transferred. Please note that in some cases, Steam will be unable to give refunds for some third party DLC (for example, if the DLC irreversibly levels up a game character). These exceptions will be clearly marked as nonrefundable on the Store page prior to purchase.

Refunds on In-game Purchases
Steam will offer refund for in-game purchases within any Valve-developed games within forty-eight hours of purchase, so long as the in-game item has not been consumed, modified or transferred. Third-party developers will have the option to enable refunds for in-game items on these terms. Steam will tell you at the time of purchase if the game developer has opted to offer refunds on the in-game item you are buying. Otherwise, in-game purchases in non-Valve games are not refundable through Steam.

Refunds on Pre-Purchased Titles
When you pre-purchase a title on Steam (and have paid for the title in advance), you can request a refund at any time prior to release of that title. The standard 14-day/two-hour refund period also applies, starting on the game’s release date.

Steam Wallet Refunds
You may request a refund for Steam Wallet funds within fourteen days of purchase if they were purchased on Steam and if you have not used any of those funds.

Refunds on Bundles
You can receive a full refund for any bundle purchased on the Steam Store, so long as none of the items in the bundle have been transferred, and if the combined usage time for all items in the bundle is less than two hours. If a bundle includes an in-game item or DLC that is not refundable, Steam will tell you if the whole bundle is refundable during check-out.

Purchases Made Outside of Steam
Valve cannot provide refunds for purchases made outside of Steam (for example, CD keys or Steam wallet cards purchased from third parties).

VAC Bans
If you have been banned by VAC (the Valve Anti-Cheat system) on a game, you lose the right to refund that game.

Movies
We are unable to offer refunds for movies on Steam.

Refunds on Gifts
We are unable to offer refunds for gifts after they have been redeemed by the recipient.

Abuse
Refunds are designed to remove the risk from purchasing titles on Steam—not as a way to get free games. If it appears to us that you are abusing refunds, we may stop offering them to you. We do not consider it abuse to request a refund on a title that was purchased just before a sale and then immediately rebuying that title for the sale price.

How to Request a Refund
You can request a refund or get other assistance with your Steam purchases at help.steampowered.com.

If this is actually the way it works it could save a lot of people from being burned by prepurchasing or crap games. I approve.

cRPG Technical problems / CRPG Launching
« on: May 14, 2015, 07:38:21 pm »
Hi guys,
When I turn on CRPG either through the Play CRPG exe or through Steam it asks if I can verify it as it wants to make changes as though I haven't installed it. If I click yes it then asks me to select the location of the mb_warband.exe and then it starts the game, this should only happen once AFAIK and then it'll just load up. I think it's not updating the registry so Windows thinks it's installing each time but I can't figure out a way to get past it. It's not affecting the running of the game it's just a bit annoying.

General Off Topic / Do I change case or GPU?
« on: March 07, 2015, 11:41:45 am »
So I put together a new PC.

It's all going well. Looks good, cabling is nice and tidy, fits in my desk really well.

Final stage, attach graphics card.

It does not fit...

I got a Corsair Air 240 Mini ATX case, looks great and has excellent airflow but unfortunately it's slightly too small for the MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V or the Asus Strix variant. I can close the case but some pipes on the card cause it to not fit properly and leaves it bulging slightly which isn't going to be good for the card or the case over time. Problem is the MSI is generally considered to be the best version of the 970 about plus it looks cool. The case is less important but a hell of a lot more work to swap out.

The decision is this: Do I exchange the MSI card for the less awesome EVGA Superclocked or swap the case for something like a Bitfenix Colossus M.

It's a fucking pain in the arse cos no official channels stated that this was a problem between the two, Corsair's site stated that it's fine with up to 280mm cards (which is also wrong you can get bigger in there without issues) but nothing about the width and MSI said nothing about the pipes sticking out.

It's like 4mm too small. Fuck sake.

Suggestions Corner / Arbalest
« on: July 05, 2014, 09:53:18 am »
Hello

Random idea.

Arbalest does a lot of damage but doesn't always kill the low armoured dudes which can be frustrating given the reload speed. In addition I feel like I have too much melee capability when fighting with it. Too good on both sides to an extent.

My thought about this is make Arbalest 3 slot, buff damage or projectile speed accordlingly (not by much just a little). Leave the rest the same.

This thing is basically a hand held ballista and was meant to be significantly larger than any other crossbow hence the 3 slots. Plus it would only allow the 0 slot one handed weapons to be used which reduces it's melee capabilites somewhat.

Your friend,

Ouj.

Beginner's Help and Guides / 2h/Thrower hybrid
« on: January 11, 2013, 01:31:33 pm »
So I'm making a hybrid. My plan is a 31 build, 18/21 6 ps 7 ath 7 wm 6 pt but the issue i have is for level 30. Do I go for 6 PS and 3 PT or 5 PS and 4 PT. I'm leaning towards the extra PS cos I'm better at melee than throwing but I'm not sure.

Suggestions Corner / Suggestion for DTV
« on: October 02, 2012, 02:28:43 pm »
So I've been playing some DTV recently and while its pretty solid I had an idea that might make it better. How about allowing siege shields and construction materials but limited. Things like healing tents and weapon racks would be awesome but obviously siege towers are silly. Perhaps increase the setup time a touch to accomodate this.

It could also do with a bit more XP/Gold but that's less important.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Retirement
« on: September 26, 2012, 03:35:27 pm »
Hi there, I can't seem to find it but I read somewhere that retiring over level 31 you get more loom points. I'm about to hit 32 and was intending on retiring if I get 2 loom points for it as I thought I did. Can anyone clarify?

Hi.

If I'm right in saying that spears and 2hs have instastab, that shit is rediculous and needs changing to something not instant.
Discuss.

cRPG Technical problems / Some weird ones.
« on: February 11, 2012, 10:38:15 pm »
Basically I turned on CRPG using the launcher, it told me I had an update, so I updated it and then it tells me "The program can't start because steam_api.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." So I try some other games, it's only CRPG that does it, every other game is fine as is Native. So I delete CRPG and reinstall from the link on this page :http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,25577.0.html which to my knowledge is the correct installer. Now every time I turn the launcher on it tells me I have to update from 6.2 to 6.1 which it tells me to do repeatedly unless I cancel it but then I'm back to the steam_api.dll error.

Weird thing is that it's only CRPG that's affected and I was also playing about 2 hours previously and it worked fine. Also what the fuck with the update?
