... and all the other things floating around out there / Re: VALORANT

So far my only nitpick about the gameplay is that getting shot pins you in place almost entirely. Someone can just unload full auto on you and even if you only get hit by every 3rd bullet you're basically a stationary target unless you can kill them first, which can be difficult of course if they got the drop on you and you need to do a 180 to find them. Maybe that's how it is in csgo but having only played that once many years ago I don't recall much about its gameplay. So far the game feels great, but looks and sounds pretty terrible all around. Hopefully with the full launch they'll polish things up a bit.

No shit, you can't compare the average COMPETITIVE native player with kadeth.

Well of course, kadeth is a god who would shit on any mere competitive player, for he is at the ultra-competitive level.

I haven't noticed the stances thing to change too much about combat tbh. In order to hit as fast as possible in warband you'd strafe to your left while swing from right to left, or vice versa. In bl they simply added stances which reinforce that decision, and make strafing left but swinging from left to right an even worse option, which kind of just shoehorns everyone into the same exact playstyle (if you're trying to to play aggressively, anyways). It feels like they added training wheels to the combat which only lowers the skill ceiling by nerfing unorthodox tactics.

I've still yet to adjust to how inconsistent blocking feels, both with and without a shield. Do stances affect blocks as well?

General Discussion / Re: Bannerlord or bust?

IDK why all the hate about bannerlord combat, in the current state it's miles ahead of Warband and kilometers ahead of cRPG. With proper balance tweaks, custom loadouts and different options (c-RPG) it's going to be a much better base for such mod than Warband ever was.

I've only ever seen compelling reasons why the combat isn't so great. Care to share some of your reasons as to why you prefer bonerlord combat?

The sweetspots for certain weapons just seem so absurdly small that you're more likely to hit with the haft of the weapon than the actual damaging part. Even if it's realistic, it feels way too restrictive given the way combat plays out. Also the sweetspots of the animations themselves seem worse than warband's somehow, with my weapon glancing in what should be the sweetspot of the swing and doing full damage at the tail end of it. If nothing else they certainly need to make swings do max damage earlier in the animation.

The single worst change in combat is probably the fact that if you hit someone, your "turn" is over and they can just instantly swing right back at you despite eating an axe a split second ago. Leads to so many players just mindlessly spamming swings; if they get hit once, no big deal they'll surely just hit you right back since its so unexpected.

Why defend china?

I wouldn't say he's strictly defending their actions. Communists are good at containing outbreaks because they're willing to just pull people off the streets and detain them if they have a fever. They'll disappear anyone who breaks curfew. Murica and most of western civilization, on the other hand, for better and for worse, won't act so boldly.

I thought it was a bit strange when I heard a first time ad on my local radio station for a sporting goods store focusing on ammo of all things.

Ain't nothing strange about that. What good is all your tp gonna do in the end times when I come knocking on your door with my fully loaded ar15 asking for a roll or two?

Why not both?

Tbh we're living in the "both" scenario. Too little, too late to avoid it reaching pandemic status, and just enough to *hopefully* ensure we don't have massive casualties.

We've gotta hurry up and spread this thing to kill the projected ~400,000 people before it all blows over and the media and politicians [continue to] look like shit.

[Politicians/media take action to prevent spread of virus, leading to fewer deaths]
"Wow, so few deaths, they overreacted and shut everything down for nothing!"

[Politicians/media take no action to prevent spread of virus, leading to many deaths]
"Wow, it's like they don't even care about us, just watching us die and shit!"

BJJ would certainly be the most useful to learn if you're worried about 'real-world' fighting, however as Bronto described above at least half of their takedowns require you to 69 some other dude, so it's a hard pass from me. Taekwondo, while perhaps the least practical, always appealed to me the most. At the end of the day, you just got to do some research and find the one that speaks to you, practicality of each particular art shouldn't impact your decision tbh.
