Let me tell you a story...
Some years ago a great duel tournament was hosted by the beautiful princess Assingtina. She was a benefactor and patroness to many warriors throughout the land. The finest swordsmen and knights came to the Great City of Dhirim to earn fame, gold, and a lady's affection. One of these warriors was Nikkle, of House Brown Bat.
After defeating Sir Allers Clegane, Nikkle was matched up against the other finalist... the bigger of the Clegane brothers; Miley.
During the opening minutes of the finals ceremony, each contestant was to ask for the blessing of their favored Lady. Miley, naturally, rode to his gimp thot, Knightmarina. Nikkle, however, decided to make a decision that would shape the very fabric of Strategus diplomacy today....
Nikkle rode his steed right past his own wife, Lady Chowski, and past the HoC Ladies, the Templar Ladies, the Acre ladies, until he reached the end of the stands. He approached Princess Assingtina and asked for her favors. The entire arena was silent, all eyes fixed on the two. Assingtina looked to her father Sandersson, and then removed a piece of fabric from her bosom and tied it to Nikkle's lance.
Some time later, things had been forgotten, and the mood returned to its status quo. Until Assingtina was "kidnapped" by Nikkle. War broke out between Frisia and Acre over the failure of Assingtina's arranged marriage to the Virgin King Cassander.
Yet while this all went on, Assingtina and Nikkle had been secretly best friends and in love this whole time... and awaited the arrival of Arys the Pious to unite them in holy matrimony.
