Following already finished all cRPG FALLEN CLAN TOURNAMENTS the other one follows. Invited to come is everybody - not only those that get invitation into their clan threads. But only clan members that will be able to form specified teams are allowed to participate in the event.

There will be multiple fights on one special map among multiple clans. No need to negotiate with other clans where or when or on what map to meet. Rankings of this tournament will be recorded and updated into the CLAN FALLEN LADDER (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,2080.0.html).


BASIC RULES - FAIL TO FOLLOW THESE RULES AND YOUR TEAM WILL BE PENALISED OR EXCLUDED FROM THE TOURNAMENT
1 - Absolutely no fighting outside the ranked tournament fights, no jumping down the tribune, no suiciding or killing teammates to regain health (if you want to regain health, rejoin via spectator). No punching or kicking of other players!!!!
2 - Use the chat as little as possible, preferably only when the tournament masters ask you something. With the qualifiers and playoffs taking place at the same time in 2 arenas, spamming the chat would make organisation impossbile.
3 - Clan team size will be 4 people, 1 clan can form only 1 clan team.
4 - Maximum ammount of members of 1 clan logged at one time on the server is 7.
5 - The highest body armor you can take for the tournament is Transitional Armour.
6 - No spawning on horse, only Tournament masters can spawn on one. Always listen to tournament masters, never hit them back.
7 - Server will be in CTF mode - if your team is called into the tournament fight you have to join the same faction as your clanmates. Starting from the Playoffs, the first team called into the battle joins upper faction, the 2nd team called into the battle joins lower faction!
8 - If you're recording the event and you're not clan member, please appy here too so you won't be kicked.
9 - Server will be passworded, the password will appear here: tournament
10 - This tournament is MELEE ONLY, no ranged, no horses.
11 - No looting of any weapons from the ground (like retaking shields from the ground)
12 - Common sense
13 - Rules can be discussed and can change further on

PENALTIES
Considering all the misbehaviour from the last tournament, I feel this section is now needed.
1 - For minor offenses there will be a warning first. This warning can be a written warning or a slash from the tournament master. If the tournament master slashes you it doesnt mean he wants to fight you, it means you are doing something wrong and you have to stop doing it. Keep doing it and you will get kicked. Come back and do it again and you will be banned and your team will be penalized.
2 - For major offenses like entering the arena when a battle is going on or killing a tournament master there will be no warning. Straight ban and your team will get penalized.
3 - The team chat is reserved for tournament masters. Anyone else using it will be kicked, if he does it again he will be banned and his team will be penalized.
4 - Penalties will be 1-3 points, depending on the severity of the offense. Keep in mind the maximum number of points you can get in a group is 12, and that if you pull 3 flawless 4v4v4 and I doubt anyone will, so a penalty WILL hurt you.

TOURNAMENT SYSTEM
1 - This tournament will be based on a brand new qualifying system of 4v4v4 fights. That means 3 teams will fight eachother to the death at the same time. Points will be give only to the winner, based only on how many people are still alive - 1 point for each member alive, so the maximum you can get from winning a fight is 4 points, the minimum is 1 point.
2 - There will be 4 groups for the qualifiers A,B,C and D with 4 teams each. There will be 4 matches within each group, everyone will get to fight 3 times. After the qualifiers are over, the first 2 teams from each group go to the Playoffs.
3 - If during the qualifiers there are 2 teams with equal number of points, their places will be set by a 1vs1 DUEL between 2 of their members.
4 - Playoffs will be 4v4 fights, following the sequence 1A vs 2B, 1B vs 2C, 1C vs 2D, 1D vs 2A.
5 - Winners of the Playoffs go to the Semifinals, PW1 vs PW3 and PW2 vs PW4, winners go to the Final, then there can be only one :twisted:
6 - All participants will be awarded ladder points and new entries will be included in the Fallen Ladder (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,2080.0.html). 64 is minimum you can get and 1024 is for the winner. If somebody shares a place the LPTs gained will be the average ammount for the shared position( for example if somebody finishes on 15-16th place, the LPTS he gets will be equall to (64+128)/2 ).


INSTRUCTIONS
1-  TOURNAMENT MASTERS INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE WRITTEN IN THE TEAM CHAT, ANYONE ELSE USING THE TEAMCHAT BUT US WILL BE KICKED AND/OR BANNED.
2 - THE QUALIFYING ROUNDS AND THE PLAYOFFS WILL BE HELD AT THE SAME TIME BY PUNISHER AND BEAUCHAMP IN 2 DIFFERENT ARENAS. This means you will have little time between rounds, so it is very important to have your team ready as soon as possible.
3 - GROUPS A AND B WILL JOIN THE UPPER FACTION. THEY WILL FIGHT IN THE ARENA ON THE LEFT, THE ONE WITH THE YELLOW FLAG NEAR IT. THEY WILL LISTEN TO PUNISHER.
4 - GROUPS C AND D WILL JOIN THE LOWER FACTION. THEY WILL FIGHT IN THE ARENA ON THE RIGHT, THE ONE WITH THE BROWN FLAG NEAR IT. THEY WILL LISTEN TO BEAUCHAMP.
5 - WHEN YOUR NAMES ARE CALLED YOU WILL ASSUME POSITIONS LIKE MARKED BY THE GREEN SQUARES, IN THE APPROPIATE ARENA. YOU WILL NOT START FIGHTING UNTILL THE TOURNAMENT MASTER GIVES YOU THE START.
6 - THIS IS THE TOURNAMENT MAP, EVERYBODY NEEDS TO KNOW WHERE TO GO.

7 - THESE THINGS WON'T BE EXPLAINED AGAIN IN-GAME, SO IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT SOMETHING ASK HERE, EVERYONE KNOWING WHAT THEY HAVE TO DO IS THE KEY FOR THIS TO WORK WELL.

REGISTRATIONS
1 - Register your clan by applying in this thread - do not PM me, if you have a question, ask here so others can see the answer and don't have to ask the same thing again. Registrations are opened probably until Friday or Saturday. There will be 16 spots, so if you want to be sure your clan will be present you can register it and settle details like visual style later.
2 - For registering: include clan name and visual style (visual style goes only to body armors while Transitional Armour is the highest you can take, other armor is free of choice. you can't register with the same visual style as the other clans, except for heraldic armors)
3 - It is still possible to apply to the tournament and still not be allowed to participate. This can happen if you apply late when many clans will be already registered before you.
4 - Clanless players can form a 4 men team, chose a name and a visual style and join the tournament. However, to avoid situations where people sign up and don't show, I reserve the right to pick the clanless teams myself.

Yes, that was one of the first things I thought about, the arenas where the fights will be are so small that will not allow 1 team to camp while the other 2 fight, and with the winning team being the only one that takes points, those kind of pacts wouldn't make much sense.

 Anyway I am hoping for more exciting intense fights and I hope the community is mature enough to enjoy this tournament and play fair, after all it's made just for fun, nobody gains anything else out of it.

Wondering, Is this an EU or NA server?

4 from 6 go to final playoffs so even if some retards (i hope nobody will get that idea) will do some alliances i believe those really good fighting clans will make it through. and playoffs(finals) are 4v4 and not 4v4v4.

I do not get why there is "9 matches within each group", if "everyone will get to fight in all possible combinations" - there is more than 9 combinations... unless I got something wrong  :? 

We have 6 teams: (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), and (6); all combinations for team (1) are: 1-2-3, 1-2-4, 1-2-5, 1-2-6, 1-3-4, 1-3-5, 1-3-6, 1-4-5, 1-4-6, 1-5-6, that is 10 combinations for team (1)

for team (2):  2-3-4, 2-3-5, 2-3-6, 2-4-5, 2-4-6, 2-5-6, that is additional 6 combinations, all remaining (involving team (1) are already done

for team (3): 3-4-5, 3-4-6,  3-5-6 that is additional 3 combinations,   

for team (4): 4-5-6 that is additional 1 combination.

That makes 20 matches within each group.... each team fights 10 times.

You are right, I wasn't clear about that, by all combinations I mean each team will face eachother (alongside another opponent) at least once. This is the sequence we will be running:

1-2-3
1-2-4

Shit you're right, math got me this time :o. Will be fixed don't worry, not sure if tonight because it's 12:40 am here, but I will figure it out and we definetly won't have more than 10 qualifying rounds each group, and each team will fight the same number of matches.

Thanks for the heads up, I actually got this idea this morning and had to settle everything in a short time, including the map (thx a lot Mustikki for making it :!:) due to some real life stuff that won't allow me to organise the tournament anytime later than this Sunday.

Found a way to make it perfectly balanced, groups will have 4 teams each and they will fight eachother in all combinations, each team will fight 3 times during the qualifiers. Good news is the system could work well even with 16 clans, so more people could join. Details tomorrow, it's 2:45AM here, but I couldn't sleep before sorting this out :mrgreen:

This tournament was intended so the smaller clans get a chance to participate. The 4 man teams where decided considering the 4v4v4 fights, that will be in an enclosed space and wouldn't like it to turn into a clusterfuck. Also with so many participants and considering we want to do it all in 1 session, the larger the teams are the bigger the chances of people disobeying orders are.

the qualifiers will be more random than those we had before. its not accidental, its on purpose in the case of this tournament. still if you make it through qualifiers, the finals are "fair".

the problem is that more clans are coming and we have to find something that is short if we want to do 1 day event. and short is for me better than fair atm.

the other way could be something like (clan+clan VS clan+clan) qualifiers system so number of fighters is equall, clans fight both together and again each other. this is less random, also everybody will always fight with this system so there won't be any time for missbehaving.  it might be employed for some future events.

nice to see so many clans joining, apparently smaller clanteam size really works, i like that. there are not many active clans left that are not participating in this (except for NA guys, but thats understandable).

Registrations are now closed, however there are 2 extra spots for substitutes, in case one of the already registered clans doesn't show up.

Deathmatch is heavily bugged, it disconnects people, causes massive lags, bugged catapults keep spawning filling the chat with script errors, pressing L crashes the game, etc. We tried it at the first tournament and it was dissapointing.

Currently CTF mode with 100% friendly fire is the best solution.

I know but untill chadz fixes deathmatch it's between dealing with friendly fire during the qualifiers (and everybody will have to deal with it so you all have equal chances) or not having the tournament.

You can scrap us off the list letting the Cavalieres play, because I just tried CTF with full teamdamage 4v4v4 on my own server and the hitboxes are fucking terrible it's just a spamfest of luck.

And as a sidenote, we had fights in the previous tournaments where opponents were in the same faction with 100% FF, and except the pike hitboxes that are indeed fucked up (not that a pike would be usefull in a 4v4v4 close quarter battle anyway) everything else seemed fine, we had no complaints.

From my experience when we tried the FF, it seems like the polearms are kinda fucked up overall. It only hits at the range of 1h, or at least my long hafted knobbed mace did. Swings went right through people. I don't know about 2h or 1h, but to me it seems like the effective range is reduced when hitting teammate :X

It really is discouraging to play under those conditions, making it too much luck based as you have no idea whether you gonna hit your opponent or not. Not complaining about the tourny though ^^ It's nice to have some inovation, it's just pity that deathmatch is fucked up as it is...

polearms have long had clipping issues with FF.

We had this issue in the jousting tournie and my personal experience as well.

It's what makes polearm far more effective in large melee situations as its very unlikely you'll get a TK especially with overheads, hence Mighty Long Maul > bar mace, long iron mace, great maul etc..

No as in you can't pick it up during the fight. If you want to fight with a weapon that your char doesn't own and pick it up before entering the arena there is no problem.

By the way, in case you didn't know there is no upkeep on our server (nor xp/gold gain) if that's a concern.

If there's big issues with FF then simply put it off! Tadaa the combat engine is good as usual? Or have I wrong?

With no FF how could members of the same faction fight eachother?

If you really are vital for your team I'll allow you to wear the Sarranid Leather Armor (requirement 8) that kinda fits your clan's style, but really I think playing in a melee only tournament with less than 12 str (so 3 PS at best) is a bad choice.

In other news, the tournament starts in 1 hour.

Check the first post for the password, the server is Fallen_Tournament2

Also, if the Cavaliers don't make it (considering the short notice and the fact they are a NA clan it's quite possible) Group A will have only 3 teams. This means they will fight eachother 3 times, and the first 2 will go to the playoffs.

Some critic about this stuff:
- Server was laggy again, and I had double the ping I have on eu1
- That "all in the same team" stuff. Seriously, hitboxes are way off, polearms can't overhead, confusing as hell. Bad solution
- 4on4on4 is the most boring stuff ever. Seriously, half the fight is teams running in circles. Just boring.
- No ranged whatsoever, leading to the usual 2 hand domination stuff.
- someone started a fire in Tors house yesterday, so he couldn't play and I had to take his place in this stuff

(hurrdurr whining because you sucked. No, we sucked because we charged in round 2&3, placing us in the middle of the other 2 teams, because we couldn't bear another round of running around in circles)

- everybody was really disciplined this time, i liked that a lot (except for one Guard guy that earned points down for the next tourney to his team - the tradition is kept :o)
- a few people on tournament server aren't possible, just more and more clans want to come, we can't count with 64 player limit anymore and the only server that is hacked for higher than 64 ammount is thx to odin the fallen one. until we find some other solution in the future, most of the tournaments will be on this server so you will have to live with the higher pings.
- another qualifying system can be used anytime, we will have to think about it. i don't think that this was a bad system totally, it enabled us to make qualifiers really fast (which is important).
- btw the lag is caused by connection (between server and you) and not server, there are people (like me) who easily have 20 ping there all the time and no lags at all.

Now to clear a few things.

This was the first tournament I organized and I wanted to make it different so I thought to try the 4v4v4 fights. From my point of view there were 2 problems with this system:

1) The arenas the fights were held into were too big, we first wanted to go for the small arena (the one in the far right, you might have noticed it), now I see we should have sticked to that, there would have been a lot less running in circles;

2) The hitbox problem, we had other fights where the teams were in the same faction at the previous tournaments so it didn't really look like a big problem, but I understand why you complain about it and will avoid it in the future tournaments. This time there was no way around as with 16 clans participating, without the simultaneous qualifiers held by me and Beau the tournament would have been 3 hours long.

So the qualifiers were a bit messy, but starting with the playoffs there were some nice fights. I will avoid using this team vs team vs team system in the future though, it was more like a test. The good part is we had a tournament with 16 clans participating and we did it all in one 1 and 1/2 hour session. Without the 4v4v4 system, the tournament would have been split into 2 qualifiers session and the finals session.

What I really liked was the good behaviour you all have shown, I hope it will be the same for the next tournaments.

What about something like this: (Requires 4 admins)

4 groups, each with 4 clans. Tournament taking place in normal battle mode. New map with 4 arenas.

That would allow us to have 4 fights simultaniously, and the fights required in each group would be:
A - B
C - D
A - C
B - D
A - D
B - C

This would take a total of only 6 fights (24 fights total, but you can do 4 at a time)
That would take less time than these fights and it would hopefully be better

1. You just have to do the 4 battles simultaniously, then start a new battle when they are all done.

2. This can be solved with discipline. Anyone breaking the rules should get an instant 1 hour ban in order to avoid people screwing this up.

Thanks for organizing it again, even if I didn't partake. I know who this Guard was and I WILL have a talk with him. I'm still proud of our team to get into Semi-Finals, thx to Ironsoul for taking over the leader-part.

It's ok, if you didn't make it past the group stage there were no more fights for you (you could have stayed and watched the playoffs though :P).

is there any video file ? screen shoots ' anything pls :)

Me and Arked were usually doing the recording, but he couldn't attend the tournament and recording would have required spectator mode, so I couldn't do it.


If anyone is willing to record the next tournament, I can give you the software you need and teach you how to use it.

i asked only because i wasn't sure as you were in the other group and punisher was sleeping already when i needed this info (i needed that info because of LPTs). of course its ok to leave if there are no more fights for you.

Tnx for organising this great tournament Punisher, even thought there were some issues (laggy and hitboxes), it all seemed to go very smooth and it was nice to see such a big tournament go so fast.

And congrats to the Grey Order, even though I lost my gold coins when I bet against you when you were fighting the Mercs  :cry:.
