Title: 4th Jousting Tournament 11th of August
Post by: Toffi on February 24, 2011, 11:53:16 am
JOUSTING TOURNAMENT

Hello guys,

One year after the 3rd jousting tournament I proudly announce the 4th jousting tournament!
But since I was gone for one year, and I am not really into the community like I was years ago,
I need the help of all clans / players which want to participate!

What I still need is :
- players who are disciplined and have fun participating
- people who record videos and take screenshots

For information click below!

no problem with using the map at least for me, maybe you should also ask warcat as he is the map creator. about the server its a different issue as its owned, paid, administrated by odin, but i don't really wanna have anything anymore with that guy.

and good luck with the tournament of course!

My char has only 7 str, so I cant use Jousting Lance, so I cant participate, am i right?

I would need to get new char, I think?

When it will be started? I suggest to you to let us grind a little bit our chars, so I think organise it next week or so.

Well, I strongly believe that horses bite on the front side and kick on the rear side,  so don't count me , but....

I have seen several guys from Grey Order and other guys visiting our local forum willing to join the tournament. So - I will keep looking here for details and advertise the idea. We can share our TS (512 slots) for the tournament, if needed.

Admins have to edit that poll, cause I can't.

We need your help here:

At the moment we are thinking about the tournament system.

There are 2 possible choices:

1. Everybody fights on his own, in a group of maybe 4 people, the 2 best of every group will play in a knockout system.

2. There are teams of 3 players, and all teams play against each other, there will be a ranking and the team with the most points will win the tournament.

Please vote on that!

I don't see why teams are needed? You could just call out three people who go at one end. Next three people at the other end. Would make it easier for us who's going to apply  :)

And great initiative of course!  :D

Well i want it to be organized, and the team wins, not the individual players. You don't even have to tell me which players are coming, you could say "Fallen Brigade is joining" and on that day there have to be 3 people, you can also swap around players during the tournament.

Haha, on the video of the fight with the jousting fence, when you die you land on it and scrape down it.

Yeah that looked cool :D But it hurt -.-

Edit: no people got harmed during that spot! But don't try it at home! This was made by professional knights!

So The Caravan Guild is joining as the first team. Who else wanna join?

I'm not that good in timezones, well it's 6 PM for English guys, and 7 PM for German people. I hope that helped ;-) I've signed you up!

Come on, doesn't HRE have 3 cav at least? :D

Fine, I've put you on the list, but you have to rotate, cause we can't have too many teams.

Hope I can make it

As I said I would like to join, but I do not have a team. Someone wanna go on a team with me? Maybe when we start the tournament we can put all the people without a team in a team or something. I really would like to do this.

Also, if we have enough time. Can we do an individual tournament too?

I've put you on the list, if there are more single players to sign up, i'll put them in your team.

Yes I think if this tournament will be successfull there will be for sure an individual tournament, but it's way more complicated to organize, that#s why I prefer teams first.

Templars will assemble a team tomorrow i am sure

  • The Order of the Rose
  • The Shogunates
  • (The Lost Legion - please confirm)
  • Random Team 1 - Zapper (ingame: Jarler), Steel Devil, Pocomaka
  • The Knights Templar
  • The Grey Order
  • (Souvereignity of Aegis)- please confirm!
Actually my horseman is Jarlek, (actually Risen_Jarlek now) and not Jarler. Might wanna change that.

Also it would be nice if some of the spectators also took some video and send it to whoever is putting it together. Hopefully one with a superOMFG computer with awesome graphics. Any volunteers?

Okay guys the tournament will finally start today at 6 PM GMT

The server is set, it's the Shogunate_Dojo server, big thanks to Ujin! Password: bushido
6 PM GMT means it's 6PM in England, 7 PM in Germany and so on...

Grey Order said we can use their Teamspeak 3 server for that event, would be nice if you join, it's that address:

address: 62.20.172.153
port: 9987

Password: warband

I would like to remember you guys of the tournament system:

    * The server will be in duel mode.
    * There are teams of 3 players, and all teams play against each other, there will be a ranking and the team with the most points will win the tournament.
    * If you join the server, join without a horse and without weapons. Don't fight each other, be disciplined
    * Walk to the jousting arena and take a seat up at the ranks. Don't walk onto the field.
    * Keep chat to a minimum.
    * As soon as I call in your team and another team, you respawn on horse with a jousting lance as only weapon.
    * First team I called goes up to the upper part of the map and takes place at the flags. Second team at the entrance (see screenshot).

How does the ranking work?:

    * It's 3 vs. 3, it means 1 player of a team only fights agains 1 player of the other team (cause if u die you have to rejoin, take your place and that takes too long)
    * If you kill the enemy, your team get's 1 point. So that means maximum number of points you could get out of one team vs. team fight is 3.
    * If you both kill each other (happens sometime), you will both get a point, the duel will not be repeated.
    * If you block with your shield the other team get's a point (means you right-clicked, so you lost)- it's a foul..
    * if you kill the horse of your opponent they will get the point, it's a foul.
    * If you both miss each other you have to repeat the fight, placing at the opposite side of the field.
    * If you do a riding mistake (ride into the fence, go too much over to the right side, jump, do other stuff except just pressing w) the other team will get a point - it's a foul.

Guys I've just decided I'll not join the grey order TS, because I have enough stuff to do during the tournament and no time for talking, I'll do it like Fallen_Beauchamp during the last crpg Fallen tournament, I'll type ingame in CAPITAL LETTERS, tell you who will be next, who will get a point and so on, cause not everybody will join TS anyway so I have to tell them ingame, no matter how many people will be in TS.

Every team can stay in their own Teamspeak, or if they wish so, join the grey order TS. I would highly recommend the randomer team to join ´the grey order TS.

I'll be in the caravan guild TS, I have to tell my helpfull mates what to do (they need to kill all the riderless horses and see if everybody is fighting after the rules, I can't see everything and such a tournament is stressfull ;-)

I'm really looking forward to it and if it will be a success, that means if everybody is disciplined & the Caravan Guild wins ( ;-) joking), there will be a single tournament in which you can show your individual skills!

Thanks again Toffi, was fun =). I only have 1 suggestion - please for the next time change the rules so we couch to the right side instead of the left - we won't have so many misses and it will be actually really intriguing and random, with lots of double kills etc .

Gratz, SHOGUNATE, TEMPLARS, GUARDS AND GREY ORDER  :D
Great job, Random Team #1  We did our best & third place is nice result for ppl seeing each other first time

Now about sad parts of event:
1. Duelants in same team cant couch each other normally & we had a few draw cause of that  :?
2. Only one word - FENCE (God, i h8 it!)

P.S. Forgive me my bad english

Yeah The Randomers surprised me!

about the sad parts:

1. I didn't realize that, but you are right, that's shit, but I said first time I call has to pickj the first team.

2. Fence is okay, without the fence it's not equal. You should have trained a little bit and get used to that fence ;-)

having an enemy to your right rather than left could help also ;] as shields arent allowed anyways

other than that thx for making such event was fun too watch ;] too bad my team and myself included didnt had any experience with the fence, maybe next time

I suppose if you got the map maker to half the size of the fence, but then put another fence on top of it, that would make it thinner without making it smaller.

If you decrease size you decrease both length and width, I make some maps, and if you wanty that, you have to decrease size by half, place 2 precisely above eachother, and that for say 100 meters, while they just shrinked to 1/2.

That's a hell of a job.

you can easily change one dimension (x, y or z) of object, so making that fence thiner isnt that much of a work as you think

lol 'one day is like the other.'

and btw, you don't need to level him up Niemand, it doesn't matter at a jousting tournament, you can win the tournament on a sumpter horse (riding 2), naked with nothing else than the jousting lance.

But please don't come like that anyway :D It's a knightly tournament! :D

Can you bring 2 mates with you?

no worries, I wont switch the class of my main-char. He is an archer and will always be one. maybe he will be a horse-archer again, once... but i wont bet on that.

No, i am retiring my alt. The 2h-Chick. :D

You could just as well click on "Skip the fun" and be done in 2 minutes.

Oh, yeah, Toffi, I can also apply as cav now, got an 1h/shield alt with 3 ridingskill... But I'd rather stay as Security :D

Good to see people signing up, just remember that dehorsing your opponent or outmanouvering you opponents lance is unknightly and will be auto forfeit for you
The only way to make it is to take down you opponent, we don't want to many delays  :P

Don't worry, I won't kill you because of that! I think it's great that you are active in this forum and game having this disability. I have added you to the randomer team 3. I think it won't get full, but I also think from my past experience, that at least one or two of the randomers won't appear so you can play anyway! cya mate

Btw, I also see you have applied for the English Knights, if they don't mind you can also play with them.

Can you upload the map btw? I think knights should have some training's done. The key to succesfull couching is to keep as close as possible to the fence, but not brushing it. And we won't be able to steer our horse during charge - so training's essential.

you'll be able to train an hour before the tournament starts. I can't train on that either, last time I palyed on that map was the last tournament. I usually train on the duel server (ruins).

I'VE GOT THE SOLUTION!

For peoples reference when talking about different times, here is a quick check so you can tell when you should be there!

Due to daylight savings, the GMT value has been increased by one for now!

GMT +1 - Britain
GMT +2 - Central Europe
GMT +3 - Eastern Europe (Romania, Ukraine, Belarus)

Don't get confused now! ;)

so-

Britain 7PM!
germany 8PM
Easteren Europe 9 PM!

See you then!!!

On a side note, is it possible for a very late entry (this said I am currently trying to get a GK trio up right now). I cant say for certain if we have a team yet :P but on the off chance :P

Ok Gk have a team if you are willing to accept a late entry.

Players : GK_Lorenzo_of_Numidia
GK_Jahboh
GK_Shishkebab

obviously we will only play 3 its just we will have a reserve in case one drops out

Hey, this was a pretty good idea, and could be pretty fun. However, I think you could have been a bit better on giving instructions and informing us about what to do in game. I was just told about the joust 20 minutes before it started and didnt know it had a thread with info. I joined the server and did everything just as I was told, however I wasnt told much. For instance I didnt know that I could respawn with weapons by joining spectator and then swap team back. When it was the templars turn I didnt know that was the thing I was supposed to do. I just heard "come down" and I walked down, but some guards were blocking the way. It could have taken you 3 seconds to give this information.

I aplologize for getting a bit angry, but when you join, follow instructions on everything you're told, you wait about one hour obediantly without causing any ruckus (like 50% of the people there were doing), and when its your turn to joust you're told the match is over because one on your team rode twice even though none of the ones participating in that duel actually got in a hit. Then others (the ones making it take forever to start in the first place due to fighting and starting a ruckus) starts being asses and calling your team names and such.

So as a conclusion, if you're going to host a similar even again you should focus more on giving information in game as the event progresses. For instance saying in the join server message that one should check out the even thread if one hasent already is a good idea. Just as a ground rule, you cant expect people to do as you want unless you tell them what you want them to do.

There was some really good duels out there. Liked the final especially.

Next time though, fewer spectator "live" and more on spectator ghosts. Might make stuff easier...

Okay this will be a nice and long post.

Results:

1. Great Khan
2. Bandits
3. ENG
4. Guards

Congratulations.

I want to thank the following clans for their discipline: Great Khan, HRE, Bandits, ENG and the Randomers team.

I don't liked the Risen and Wolves, and the way they behaved. You should think about your discipline, it is a tournament. Last tournament nobody misbehaved.

The rest was in between. Some clans didn't join and also some randomers.

I apologize for the map, I wanted to play on the Fallen_Tournament map like last time, but it wasn't possible, not my fault.

I don't apologize for the organization of that tournament. It took too long but that wasn't my fault. I called up the teams fast, some of them were fast, some needed ages (Templars and others). That#s why it got boring at some stages of the tournament, but as I said, not my job to join fast.

Also you should be able to ride next to the fence and press ctrl+J before the duel starts. But it was also a problem for some guards, so everybody needs to train that.

All in all I was a bit disappointed, but now I got some nice feedback anyway, that's very kind of you. I would like to start another tournament, not too long away, and want to change things:

- Fallen_Tournament map again, it's better cause of 3 (smaller) fences.
- Some clans will be excluded or need to join spectator. I don't see the point to organize that tournament if you don't behave.
- if someone missbehaves again we kick him once, after that the whole clan get's banned from the tournament.
- Faster.
- Chat to a minimum, only one player of each clan can talk.

Thanks alot for the server Shogunate.

Edit: @ Templar Diavolo: a team needs to register in here so I make sure they know what to do and know the rules. It seemed like the Templars have been very unorganized and reading what you said in here it's true. It's not my fault if you don't know the rules, your leader should have told you there are rules.

The organization was a bit ... rough. Server was up only like at 20.30. The map changed twice. We were training at completely different fence - the new thing was longer and a bit lower. I think that was an organizators' fault. You really should give a map for participants to train - so we could avoid bumps, missings and riding mistaked and have a nice jousting.

And the bunch of misbehaving people was awful sight. Pick participants more carefully next time - and i suggest NO spectators OR spectators are allowed only to be in spectator mode.

One more thing - you should really prepare everything BEFORE the event begins. I don't understand why orgs didn't do it beforehand and waited for an event to begin.
And add some RP stuff like heralds and colorful flags.

I tried to get the map for days now, no chance, so got this map 2 hours before.

RP is your turn, guards, GK and other clans appeared in one armour.

It was very well organised and I'm amazed tbh that Toffi had the patience he did... sadly half the teams that entered were not even full teams but a couple of people who wanted some extra that they didnt have to organise :/ Us Gk's all understood everything fine and we entered and read the rules 4 hours before the tourney...

Herald may also refer to:

A messenger, especially one bringing important news
A harbinger, giving signs of things to come

I meant people wearing their lord's color announcing knights. It can serve for both RP and as well as org. purposes (which in light of recent event is essential). While herald is "reading" the text, the combatants have time to prepare for battle. Secondly, i suggest giving sign for beginning not by ctrl+j but by a man in a mid of fence with a torch and Toffi announcing. Why? Because pressing ctrl+j disrupts your concentration plus you can't see if the opponent did the same - the horse stands up and blocks your vision of a moment.

And for god's sake - make the fence lower next time...

some things you can do better:

dont bother with retarded people. give them a warning, then a ban for the rest of the tournament. if their team doesnt have enough members anymore, they are out. this is not the place to be funny or go on a rampage, it is rather distasteful.

announce a schedule for the teams, so they know when they are going to fight. so while 2 teams fight, the next ones can already line up outside and come in right after the fight is over.

close registration a day before the tournament takes place, so you know how many teams you have.

the ctrl+j is ok to say you are ready, but the tournament master should give the go for the fight. everyone will see the different coloured text. if people fell asleep on their horses its just a free win for the other team.

not everyone is good in riding along a fence and/or jousting with a lance. just limit the retries to 1 or 2.

if someone is riding away from the fence just count that as cowardice (foul). but remember that some horses are really big. (i mean anyone can ride a rouncey or palfrey and they are not that expensive either.)

Congratulations to the top3 ! I was cheering for Bandits though, damn Gk. :P

Anyway, looking at that made me thought of an epic video (from Ripper from example), with a jousting tournament going on (like here), with security with same gear and noticeable (like hear), with a lot of spectators in CASUAL wear (spectators don't go with heavy plate usually), and it would look soooooo great. We could even have a couple of bad behaving people killed by the security, a beautiful lady throwing a smokebomb on the victorious, etc... xD

Would need an hell of organization though, and an hell of participants to make it look "real". But hey... i had a dream. xD

I like the idea with someone staying in the middle, that would help a lot.
Fence is lower at the normal map!

Yes as I said, next tournament misbehaving will get punished, look the upper posts.

I don't want to close registration, Great Khans joined late and won :D Also you never know how many teams are coming, Fallen and some randomers didn't show up, some came very late.

I don't really care which horses they take, riding away from fence is a foul, that#s right, but I wanted to give them another chance cause, as you said, not eveeybody is good in riding. I agree if someone fels asleep on his horse, he should just get killed by the enemy, so it's a legal point!

First of all, i want to apologize for some of our members behaviour. You have a point in there, and measures are being taken to avoid that behaviour on the future. For that, please, don't take it into account for future tournaments. Also  please note that the wolves actually playing on the tournament were not the ones causing havok around. (i was playing with my alt LadyMadonna).

Having said that, please allow me to give some suggestions. We played 2 rounds (won 3:0 vs. Templars, lost 1:2 vs. Guards), while the other clans played 3 or 4 rounds. I don't know why, and we're not able to know what was the sistem used for the tournament. For that, next time, please publish brackets, groups, and a explanation of the qualification system so we know our advancement in the tournament.

Other than that, our greetings to the GK for the win and thanks to the guards for taking the effort of making the tournament.

I mucked around during the tourney... But as I see it, it was only just a bit of fun. Playing hide and seek with the guards and trying to smuggle weapons into the stands, was just good fun. I didn't go around killing everyone in the stands or anything like that, I didn't do anything to disrupt the actual tournament and to be fair most of the people fighting eachother were risen and templars, in the square behind the stands. I'm guilty of messing around with the guards but their reaction wasn't serious, well maybe from killing me a few times, but it seemed they enjoyed mucking around too and no harm was done to the tournament through this.

Okay I won't take it in account, I am sorry you only played twice, some clans palyed 4 times or 3 times, that is right. Well you would have been next again but I had to end that tournament. Can't give you an explanation, becuase I never know who joins, even if they register (3 teams were missing, some joined late).

The system is everybody plays against everybody, but it took too long today, last time it worked!

I couldn't join so I really had no idea what's going on, you didn't reply on TS =(

Post by: Gisbert_of_Thuringia on June 05, 2011, 11:12:11 pm
Ok guys, I talked to Toffi a bit and some things will be different next time. Many things I write down now will be at the next tournament, some I hope Toffi will take^^

1. About behaviour

Everyone who wants to is allowed to join the server but there are certain rules.
- NO weapons until it's your turn
- You STAY ON tribunes together with your team and your are NOT running around.
- Fighting, kicking etc is forbidden (noone kicks you if you kick someone 1 times or so, but it get's too much very often)
- Suicidejumps or anything like that are forbidden
- Fighting while the tournament runs is forbidden

--> People who do not behave get one warning by security. If nothing changes they get kicked. If it happens again after they rejoin they get banned from the server and their team is disqualified!

2. Chat

Whole chat will be muted except for one fighter of every team. If you have to say something, that person can do it. If the speaker is spamming the chat, he get's muted to and you can't say anything more. Life sucks.

3. Beginning of a fight

Both teams will go to their side and wait there. Riders go to the fence and press ctrl + j to show they are ready. There will be a person who's only task is to be in the middle of the fight with a lpolearm weapon or a torch (sad that there are no flags in this game to wear^^) and he will do a swing from above when both riders pressed crtl + j. Both riders charge.

4. Fighting

Both riders ride towars each other with couched lances. When a rider failes at the beginning of his charge cause he hits the fence they start again. It's no reallife and you need certain speed to couch lance. Both should get a chance to fight.
If riders miss each other they start again until one is dead.
If one rider hits fence while both are already charging and the other one kills him...well...life sucks :)
If one rider rides away from the fence when the other should be able to hit him, the other team gets the point. Don't be a coward and dodge cause you know you will miss^^ Same goes for blocking.

5. Exactingness

Teams are called to their fight. When a team doesn't show up at the fence after 30 seconds they are called out again. After 30 seconds they lose one point. So if they win twice they will have 1 point in the end because they did not show up on time.

6. Herald

Hard to get that I think. Maybe it's possible to get 1 person with admin rights as a herald who will always write something like "On the right side of the map you see the great team of the Caravan Guards!!" *cheer*
"On the other side you see the peasant team of donkeyballsuckers...the Shogunates!!" *clapclap*  :D ;) (love you shogunates)

But I'm really not sure if something like that is possible for the next time. Good things need some time^^

7. Security

Securities task is to take care of behaviour and everything else.
You warn people and you tell admins if they don't behave after warning. Killing them doesnt work. Hit them once and kick if it doesn't help.
You also have to get horses out of the way. Please don't kill them on the battleground. One with ridingskill shall take them, ride away from battleground and kill them where noone can see them. It's very ugly in the ende when there are 20 dead horses on the ground :D

Your armour: OMG are you serious about that blue thing and clubs? o.O
It was hard to see you and it looks like shit. Take something nice. For example "padded armour", "white tunic over mail" or best "tourney armour". They are cheap and they look really good and everyone knows you are a guardsman there and not a stinky peasant who wants to fight someone
And you should all wear the same armour. Same about weapons. take good looking weapons like "bastard sword" or "simple sword" or so. Something that looks good and is cheap.

I will try to help Toffi organise a bit next time, because it's very hard for one person to do everything. He has to concentrate on the participants so he can't take care of general order.

8. Rules of the tournament

Everyone is supposed to read the rules on the tournament website before he participates in the tournament. If people don't know what to do they lose their points or whatever will happen.

SOoo...I hope I forgot nothing. If so, tell me :)

First of all: there was nothing wrong with the organization. Toffi and his men did a great job, it's not their fault that people are plain stupid and retarded. This idiotic community does not deserve all the effort you guys put in organizing a tournament like this, i mean how fucking hard can it be to read 2 or 3 rules and read the red admin chat and follow instructions ? Only idiots cant do that and today i saw many of them online. You shouldn't even bother with muting, just warn them and then ban them so they can't come back until the tourney is over, and register it as their loss of match, nice and easy.

Also, BlueGreen: not only that you are useless but you're also not a very bright guy in the first place: ignoring the fact that you (a dedicated cav player) didn't know what jousting is, what team you're in and when was your turn to play you also didn't care to read when admins kept calling you, instead you were busy with kicking & fisting my men while we were trying to take screenshots on top of the stand, you also did it to other random guys. I could list at least a dozen names here, of people who acted like immature children or plain morons but i won't go there. Some Risen, some templars, some other clans, some randoms, in the end: complete mess, guards did their best but you can't deal with a bunch of idiots.

Again I'll say this out loud: this stupid community doesn't deserve the effort you're putting in to organize such things. Simple as that. On every tournament there just has to be a pack of assholes who spoil the brilliant organization, this time is wasn't a pack but a horde.

Edit: @ Templar Diavolo: a team needs to register in here so I make sure they know what to do and know the rules. It seemed like the Templars have been very unorganized and reading what you said in here it's true. It's not my fault if you don't know the rules, your leader should have told you there are rules.

Yea, I apologize for not coming prepared, and I appreciate you reading what I wrote. I take the blame for not being informed enugh before, but I still hope you will give more input and instructions as the game progresses to let everyone know whats happening with the judging and everything.

the ctrl+j is ok to say you are ready, but the tournament master should give the go for the fight. everyone will see the different coloured text. if people fell asleep on their horses its just a free win for the other team.

not everyone is good in riding along a fence and/or jousting with a lance. just limit the retries to 1 or 2.

I agree with these two points. I dont think the players should be able to start right after "ctrl+j"-ing like some did now, then it will be a competition of who hits ctrl+j first. (since blocking= loss, going away=loss and not having enugh speed to get your lance down in time=loss) I think there should be events happening like this: 1: Tournament Master (TM) sais that the next duel should start. 2:players go up to the fence and hit ctrl+j to say that they are ready. 3: TM sais "go!" and the match is on. 4: TM gives points based on outcome with a small explanation if needed. 5:TM calls out new people (or retry if people failed on riding along the fence)

That way it will be more stuctured in the actual duels and its easier to know whats happening.

It would also have been nice if the server was open some time (atleast 2-3 hours) before the jousting so people could practice riding along the fence to avoid too much fouls.

Also like has been mentioned earlier I think everyone who is not in the 2 teams that are going to duel should be in spectator. That way there will be no fighting, no need for guards and easier for everyone to understand.

Im looking forward to the next joust!

GREAT TOURNY! It was my first, and I enjoyed it.

Alas, the randomer team lost horribly, and I'm partly to blame. I sucked a bit, due to a lack of practise (I was workin before the tourny started).

I love you Toffi :D I look foward to the next tourny.

I don't liked the Risen and Wolves, and the way they behaved. You should think about your discipline, it is a tournament. Last tournament nobody misbehaved.

You specifically name Risen and the Wolves like they were the only people who did anything you deem showings of lack of discipline.

Yet in the case of the Wolves their discipline was so bad that not a single member of the clan was given a warning, kick or ban, meanwhile people from other clans who you have decided not to name were given warnings, kicks and/or bans.

I just want to know exactly why this is as specifically I can't help feel it brings myself as a member of the clan into disrepute with your naming of the Wolves as "needing to sort their discipline."

Surely those clans who had members warned, kicked or even banned must have shown far worse discipline?

I thought it was funny to see people mess with the guards. Obviously it could easily cross the line into the realm of "asshole", but yeah... it was cool to see the guards being all guard like and clubbing bitches.

I blame lansamur for aggitating crowd with his aggressive behaviour.

When scared, crowds become aggressive. Next time only bring out lansamur when hes needed else he intimidates us lowly spectators into violence.

Wrong. I warned Murmillus several times of not acting like a Security-member (wearing the same outfit).  I kicked him once, too. Electro has been mucking around quite a bit, too.

@albatiger: If Toffi would start naming every team that misbehaved his post was double the size^.^  You guys were just an example. Don't put too much into it or think Toffi hates you guys. ;)

@Casimir: Lansamur was too aggressive? O.o  He was kind like a lamb actually ^_^
He should have started muting and kicking people much earlier and next time it will be like this: People misbehave = warning. People misbehave again = kick. Misbehaviour again = ban and team is out of tournament.
It's like competitions in reallife. You follow the rules or you get punished.

If it had been a Fallen tournament and Beauchamp would have been there he would have kicked half the server I think

I had nothing to do with kicks or band or muting people, but I have to admit it heleped a lot for the security of the tournament, and about the Wolves, you did missbehave, I stay behind the words I've said. I mentioned good clans, bad clans and the rest was in between.

Modify: pocomaxa: thanks for joining, you behaved really good and aslso scored some points. I wouldn't like to start a single tournament because I can imagine how the people will behave there...

I don't like the idea of paying. I can't afford money with my cavalry alt. I' glad I was able to buy the jousting lance^.^
Let's just be strict with rules next time. When I can be there at the next tournament I will take care about that. People will get banned for misbehaviour and if there are only a few teams left in the end...well...easier to get a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place :D

I say find some sponsors (there are many rich bastards around) and enforce very strict rules. 1st, 2nd and 3rd get some money rewards, offenders get warned and then banned. Would make things interesting, fighting not only for glory but for the money as well....without all that (as it is now) many don't care about the tourney and that's why they act like shit.

I was not kicked once from the server. You did not warn me not to wear security uniform, you killed me twice because of it, but you never put it into words. What's the point in lying? Yes I got told to drop weapons, which when caught I did. And after one of my clanmates told us in TS that you guys were getting funny because I was wearing the guard uniform I switched back to normal armour, but not once did I get a verbal warning from a guard.

Come on just the fact you put on security uniform is bullshit.

Pretending to be a guard, which worked at first until a guard from my own team saw me, was fun. Did it disrupt the tournament? No. Did it ruin the tournament? No.. Was it mature to do so? No... Was it OK for me to do it? In hindsight no, but the reaction generated here is OTT, mainly because the part me and another wolf played in the 'disruption of the tournament' was little compared to the majority who were killing eachother constantly behind the stands. But if you just wanna be a serious sally and use that an excuse to be a dick to someone, please continue, I doubt I can change your mind.

If I had did anything which had disrupted the actual tournament then I would see your attitude justified, but due to the fact the guards played along with us, you know like hunting us down and beating us with clubs, or shooting us with arrows, we thought they were having fun too. If I was kicked, my behaviour wouldn't have continued, if I was given a warning in chat I wouldn't have continued, neither happened, lack of both which encouraged me to continue.

Toffi I assure you that the Wolves who broke the rules know they did so and they are very sorry for that and they know they screwed up.

I personally feel that your desicion to make this a public matter was not a fully thought through one but that is just my opinion.

There are two things I would like to know from yourself before I wash my hands entirely of the matter.

You have said you stand by your words on the Good, Bad and Inbetween clans but I just want to make sure there is no hidden implications here now everything is out in the open.

Are you saying that out of all the people at the event who were given warnings, kicks or bans you feel that amongst the worst offenders of them all were these Wolves members?

If this is the case then I ask why were no warnings, kicks or bans handed out to these Wolves members at the time and their actions were only brought up afterwards?

Thanks,
Tiger.

Yes they didn't. Originally it was me, Thovex and Ragni who was going to participate. I couldn't come on time, Thovex crashed and Ragni was nowhere to be found so Thovex just had to send 3 others in. That's basically it. Again sorry.

Tiger, I just mentioned in my first post that I didn't like your behavior, your clanmates started the discussion. I wasn't on the stages, I was down there and not carrying much about that stuff, to be honest. That#s what security told me and I believe them.

"Are you saying that out of all the people at the event who were given warnings, kicks or bans you feel that amongst the worst offenders of them all were these Wolves members?

If this is the case then I ask why were no warnings, kicks or bans handed out to these Wolves members at the time and their actions were only brought up afterwards?"

No not only Wolves, also Risen, as i said in the first post. Why no warning, kicks and bans? In the previous posts Lansamur said that there have been several warnings and kicks. Talk to Lansamur about that. I'm seriously sick of this. Madonna apologized and I told her/him I won't take it in account for the next tournament, you can join as every other clan with no restrictions, I think that's quite fair because  some other posts here say you shouldn't even be allowed to participate.

No not only Wolves, also Risen, as i said in the first post.

You will note that I said "amongst the worst offenders of them all" as in, there were others (Risen), but also all the other people (presumably several from Clans) given warnings, kicks or bans who you chose not to mention.

I can't help but wonder if those feeling that the Wolves shouldn't be allowed to participate are only going on the information in this thread that states the Wolves were one of the two worst offenders, which is a statement which appears to be based on somewhat conflicting accounts of what happened.

Thank you for your reply though.

@Toffi, Tiger etc:

Can we just stop that discussion now?
We all know that many people misbehaved. We all know that Toffi did not see everything because he was concentrating on participants. He has just written down what he saw/ experienced. Some BashiBazouks alos got banned but maybe he didn't get this. I saw everything (actually it was me who told Lansamur to mute, kick and ban people etc) and I can assure you that not only Wolves and Risen misbehaved. It's just what Toffi recognised.
And we all know that our security did not what they should have done. But that's not their fault because there was nothing written down about what to do with misbehaviour. I wrote that down on page 17 or 18 and Toffi will put this into the invitation for the next tournament. And then people will get their warning, kick etc :)

So now stop it please^^

Was nevertheless a nice tournament. And I think next time it will be better because we don't have to waste so much time with waiting for teams or warning them.

I apologize for our behavior guys, you have to admit that some of your guards took part in what we saw as a bit of fun, at no point we intended to take the piss or disrupt the tournament and i dont believe any of the wolves did.
However i agree that a more "business like" and les "childish" behavior is expected from us. We must set an example for other players and not take part in the "fooling around" even if we only mean to have fun with you guys.
What we missed to understand and what we feel bad about now is that you put a lot of effort into this and at the end of the day you expected better from all of us, deep apologies on behalf of all the wolves, we will make up for this disapointment and ofc we'll make sure it wont happen again.

It was really fun, even if it was un-organised. I think the fence was better on the new map, I could actually get some hits. (All the ones I hit I also died aswell ^^)
I might try make a map with a perfectly sized fence. And flags of all the clans that participated hanging from the audience area.
I think we should do a 13c style tourney aswell. We all get into 2 big teams on a giant open field and fight. Could be fun :D

Epic pic of me and Tomas at the tourney. We had an exitement overload when we won a few jousts.

Thanks for the pictures Bandits, and thanks for the awesome suggestions Gnjus.

Since there was a lot of feedback, i'm sure the next tournament will be even better organized, and better in general.
In all case, you can still count on me as a security gard to welcome you into the place.
We'll organize better salute (blocking from spectators, ctrl-j for jousters), so that we only let inside people who knew rules and all. And it will also be more... rp like.

Maybe add some sort of ts where spectators and security belong, so that we may ask question instead of typing it, and while busy typing it, looking at the armed spectator going inside, and then all security following him.

I'll think about problems of Security, but also of providing services for the spectators (smokebombs, torches, nude lady, etc...) so that everyone can enjoy the tournament.

Nop. If you can't find them, you're not allowed to use them.
Si tu peux pas les trouver, c'est qu'il y a clairement quelque chose de louche là-dedans.

Now please stop the spamming in here. It's all about the tournament and if you have questions or something else about that, send it in here. I'll think about a way wolves can help us in the next tournament, but I am not as mean as the other players and I have to admit there are unfortunatly no toilets on that map to clean.

That can be solved easily....Gazda the Swine is the one who made the map and i already instructed him to make a new one, even better, with 3 fences just like the Fallen one and with much more cool additions. I recon adding a few toilets wouldn't be a problem.

Ah yes, toilets, you'll have a new home once they've been added! Sure you'd feel at home since you were born in one!

The only thing you say that rings truth is that I'm fat. I'm not a glutton, an arsehole? That's a matter of opinion. Nice story you made up by the way, a memory of yours maybe?

There's being punished for stepping out of line, I've recieved that punishment and I've apologised, then there's taking the piss. We've done the former and you've done nothing but take the piss for it. Maybe you should be blaming the majority instead of picking on the minority who had the balls to admit their errors.

But you wont, because like every dumb schoolyard bully, you can only see what's clearly infront of you without requiring much thought into seeing the actual situation as it is, giving merit where it's due and critic where it's deserved, why don't you get off my case and go hunt down some templars or risen or bashbakuzu or w/e it is, for their major roles in the disruption of the tournament, the majority of whom never came here to apologise. But I'm guessing you can only see as far as your nose, as big as it is, I doubt it's long enough to give you enough insight into what actually happened at the tournament so maybe it would be best if you stopped talking about things you have little knowledge about.

To Gnjus spam.

I get nothing but ' STOP THE SPAM', he's allowed to get away with personally attacking me but when I defend myself, 'STOP THE SPAM'. Respect? Is given to those who show it. It's like in the tournament, how the guards played along with our little games only that after the tournament, they had their fun now they also get money and apologies too and now a pick on the fat guy game on their thread. I won't be attending ANY guard tournament from this point on. Revolting people.

Because he's your buddy and I'm just some guy who you've decided to use as a scapegoat as to why the tournament ended up in shambles. You fail to take account of the majority of the disruptive players, you are not greatful for the apologies we've given and in my case it looks like you've just spat at my apology. I take my apology back. I will not offer assistance. Whether this gets me kicked from my own clan I care not, you are incapable of showing basic respect to those who are showing respect to you.

I said loud and clear what i saw at the tournament, i was there all the time and didn't participate in jousting until the last match so i had the chance to see what you guys were doing there which makes your claims about me "not knowing what i talk about" quite ridiculous.
It wasn't hard for me to follow a few rules and keep my mouth shut when asked to, while it was obviously a big problem for you and your buddies.
Also, i stopped the spam here. If you wanna continue - feel free.

Edit: Toffi loving me more then someone else is bullshit, we are all the same there, if i did what you did on the tourney it would end up the same for me as it did for you.

no actually it started because you said Gnjus was born in a toilet and after that he insulted you beiing fat.

Proof:

Ah yes, toilets, you'll have a new home once they've been added! Sure you'd feel at home since you were born in one!

That's what I see. But I hate spamming in here! And I also always want to have the last word in my thread, but if you come again and again and want to answer me, the whole thread gets filled with ****.

@ Gnjus why should we all be the same here? Everybody is different and if I see Gnjus ingame I think different about you than if I see Balton ingame. Also it's more fun if you like some people, it enforces teamplay.

Indeed, we all have people who we like or dislike, love or hate, enjoy playing with or despise. What i meant was our behavior at the tournament, i believe that if I did all those things Murmur & co. did that i would also be kicked/banned/whatever, the rules should apply the same for all.
As for this "conversation" i say we finish it here and we all go to eat some roasted pig, with an apple between its teeth, after that we all go to the new toilets next to the jousting tracks and see what they're made of. Deal ?

Toffi. I would not mind you making a new thread for every jousting tournament event. This makes it easier to see if there's a new event going. Instead of believeing it might just be the old thread.
Plus this thread also have alot of old comments(i.e those on the first page) that are a bit misleading and so on.

You can just copy paste the first post into a new thread. Just saying that it would be much better for most of us.
(It's not like you're having this event so often. So it won't really be spam either)

Hello, on the last tournament I saw all the flaws of the map which was used. So I created a new map

This map is made for jousting only and has only jousting facilities. When creating this map I was focusing on the functionality rather then good looks.

Map overview
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Only way to enter in jousting area is by gate, which is opened and closed by a winch system in guard house, you cant jump in jousting are from walls and viewing areas couse its blocked with barriers

spawnpoints are marked black

rail is the hight of a horses back

Maybe add in the oppening message the page where this 3rd tournament starts, so that newcomers don't have to read all others.

3rd tournament : Page 25 and beyond.

Good luck with the map Gazda, i'm looking forward to it. (and i personnaly like the spawn, we could keep in check who was coming, and they were not popping just in front of us. Just maybe move it a bit, outside the building and on the other side of the wall, and it should be perfect.)

Their probably the low-rez, low-demanding "distant buildings". Basicly background props you can place that are supposed to be far away. Check them out in the editor thingie.

Torches are allowed on the tribune, other weapons aren't.
My troop has the command to start hitting guys who don't behave at first with a Club (warning.
If you don't react or hit back, they are allowed to take their melee weapons and kill you.
Please go only the  main tribune up. The other tribunes aren't passable for you.
Enjoy a peaceful tournament.

What I've been thinking of is having a STRATEGUS tournament! You have to craft/buy your equipment, move your character to a city (that we all agree on) and we have a duel/jousting/whatever tournament with a prize for the winner. Maybe a possible entry fee for everyone participating too.

Hmmm, we make two tournament holders. Before every fight they transfer their stuff and 1 troop (or 10 if it's a best of 10 or a 10v10 or whatever) and they attack each other. They then both apply for the correct side and the fight is fought out. Or we can do "rounds" and everyone in Round one send their stuff to guy X and guy Y (same as before) but more people can do so. Gonna have to be strict with people only spawning with what they transferred. Maybe make each side have a c-site and 5 materials to make an equipment chest in case something fucks up or people can't spawn with it?
The fun thing with this is that you can bring whatever you want, but you have to pay for it yourself :D So this makes big factions able to craft some heavy gear to show off their technological superiority and stuff, while single players/small clans can still have a competitive edge and maybe gain some nice shiny strat gear as winner price :D

Although the 24 hour wait before the fight can be a bitch :/

Maybe make a suggestion for fief owners (of Towns probably) to Hold Tournaments with special rules of them and stuff? Also, maybe an arena in each town where you can challenge others to quick duels with your strat gear or something?

I wouldn't like it if everybody fights a real strategus battle. It should be at one time, the tournament.

Yeah. That's why I thought if the "Hold Tournament" thing. Would be like a special event and stuff, where you had to go to the city and stuff. Not quite sure how it would work :/

Yeah that's what I mean. If it would be like in single player- you enter a city and join the tournament, and the tournament will takeplace in a few hours on eu 3 that would be brilliant, but technically hard.

Not really. If it was something like when you announce it, it will start in a week or something (maybe you can set the time yourself?) and it reserves a slot then. Big time slot probably. Then everyone must get a character too it, they can all spawn once and choose anything from any equipment they have with them. Then it's a free for all (if we want duel tournament, then we would need admins to stop randoming or something) and the winner gets X where X is a reward I haven't thought of yet. Maybe the loot of the others, maybe a gold prize from the tournament holder, maybe something completely different...
Title: Re: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Jousting Tournament finished, results in here

The problem with doing it on strat is that it excludes people from taking part if their main doesn't have riding skill, which isn't really fair and would reduce turn out.

I think tournaments should be tournaments and remain separate from strategus.

The problem with doing it on strat is that it excludes people from taking part if their main doesn't have riding skill, which isn't really fair and would reduce turn out.

I think tournaments should be tournaments and remain separate from strategus.
Oh. Herpaderpa, everyone can apply. We've gone past the JOUSTING tournament in our discussion and are now only on TOURNAMENT. People can bring whatever they want to the Strat tournament. All classes allowed. Just like in SP (although there you are for the most part given equipment :/

And for a Joust only tournament? Well, just announce that on the forum that this will be a jousting only tournament and that if you don't have a horse you can't participate. The tournament holder should be given a time-limited admin for the tournament itself. Gonna have to do that if we want a 1v1, winners stay duel.

Look, I haven't thought this fully out. Wait and see and I'll make a suggestion tomorrow in the Suggestions Board. Gimme some time, ok!

The old way of doing the jousting tournament is far better.

I have to agree with casimir, my main is a horsemen so I didn't think about this problem.

Yes my main has riding skill aswell but it seems silly to limit numbers by saying players may only use their mains for the event.

Anyway if you want to get this on the go again toffi let me know and i'll spread the word.

Sigh. Thanks for reading my posts Casimir. Didn't I say I was talking about just Tournaments now and not Jousting Tournaments? Yeah, if we want a Jousting Tournament it would be better to have it in normal cRPG where you can use alts, but a tournament in Strat would still be cool, right?

Indeed i read your post zapper i was just trying to keep the thread on the actual topic being discussed.

And i personally do think the idea of some strategus tournament would be cool, and i'd want to take part. However that discussion should be elsewhere

P.S. I'm not likely to respond to someone who's first reply to me is HERPADERPA

Hello dear cavalry players,

One year after the 3rd jousting tournament I proudly announce the 4th jousting tournament!
But since I was gone for one year, and I am not really into the community like I was years ago, I need the help of all clans / players which want to participate!
What I need is :
- a server
- a map, it can be one of the two maps we used before
- players who are disciplined and have fun participating
- people who record videos and take screenshots
- 1 or 2 admins on the server to help me out organising during the tournament

The tournament will start on 4th of August (sunday) 19 gmt+2 (germany) 18gmt+1 (english)!

So I wait for you feedback and especialy your help via pm or in this thread!

Toffi

EDIT: CHECK First post to be up-to-date!

a server

Contact the HRE's about using the HRE_Fallen server. I'd ask soon though as it may get booked due to the clan league.

You can use HRE_Fallen_Training on any of those dates. Just let us know which you want to use and we'll work around you.  The Clan League only books out the HRE_Fallen_Scrim server so that isn't an issue.

Add a 5k entry fee for each competitor and either winner takes all or divide it 50% for 1st team, 30% for 2nd and 20% of 3rd.

You could also charge 500 gold for server entry for spectators. :P

Hm well, what we need is more players, right now its only the guards and a randomer team registered. I thought an entry fee will make less people to join...
