Ages ago, I wrote a long and extensive guide on Archery.  It described what was once a fairly straight-forward tradeoff of damage vs. accuracy.  Then chadz changed EVERYTHING about archery, and ever since I've been too lazy to experiment and try to figure it all out again.  I've seen plenty of discussions about the best bow or the best build, blah, blah, blah......I have one very simple question that I'm hoping someone can answer with actual proof instead of hearsay.  What is the best way to optimize accuracy as an archer as of the most recent updates; i.e. what is the MOST accurate archer build with respect to PD, WPF, and bow used?  And by this I mean reticule size.  I want a reticule that settles to a point.  Someone tell me how to do it.   :wink:

Use sniper crossbow + 180 wpf.

But if you want archery...

I have no fuckin idea. It seems that at the moment Strong bow is the most accurate, but I am not sure.

I hand out headshots all day on my alt using the Khergit Bow, 18/18 archer with 5 in IF and 5 in PS for 1hand sidearm (no prof). Fairly small reticule at 154 prof, can't wait to retire to a horse archer and go 173 prof.

Pics of one of my archers  PD 5/Wpt 161 with fine-strong bow, kergit and nomad bows. The reticle closes for approx (but noticeably different) 1 sec, 1.5 sec and 2 sec respectively.

i'm going 21/18 with the warbow and i like it even though i now only have 18/7!

That build works extremely well, though I put my spare points in Iron Flesh not PS so I could take an additional arrow or small blow before going down. I think I had 5 points?

I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

My favourite archer build is 18/24 with 172 wpf i use a masterwork longbow.

I imagine that leaves little for athletics, around 3 or so. Do you run and gun, or stick to mainly one position at long range?  I would be afraid of being overrun with melee (not good with a 0 slot weapon and no PS)

i put them in IF too, and you can have 4 IF :wink:

Those pics of the PD6 archer are interesting. The low end bows have noticably tighter crosshairs, despite having a lower Accuracy stat. That seems to indicate that Power Draw above the requirement of the bow increases accuracy.

I just compared the kergit ss´and there is no difference in accuracy between them.

That has something to do with that a higher accuracy will only make a difference if you have the wpf to achieve that, hence why the longbow is such rubbish as it has a high base accuracy but you need an unreal amount of wpf to exploit it.
