SeaRaiders
Introduction (Chapter 1)
Some came as mercenaries and tried to earn some honest gold, just to be wronged by the Mad Kings of this Realm, just like myself. Others came to trade, but failed at earning enough to survive. But most of us came to do what our people did best. To raid the coast for its riches.
These Sea Raiders decided to build a small encampment east of Sargoth on a river a few metres upcountry, called Fenada, so they didn't have to sail the great journey over the sea back to their homelands after each raid. Time passed, Fenada grew and many other Nordmen joined them there, like myself. Trough raiding came slaves to Fenada. Way too many slaves.
One day, while most of the able men were gone viking, the inevitable happend. The slaves did rise, they killed the few men left behind, looted our armory and claimed the village as their own. Instead of jubilance we were greeted by volleys of arrows when we returned. They caught us off guard, we had to retreat back to the sea.
And here we were, out of supplies, our ships damaged and our homes taken by slaves. Some did expect us then to just vanish into thin air, without seagoing ships to return to our homelands or sufficient men to retake Fenada. But no, we did not give up our new home. We did disembark near Sargoth, slowly building up our numbers.
Nordmen gathered from all over Calradia to help their brothers in need. One warband after another arrived and formed one of the most formidable armies of nordmen assembled in Calradia for a long time, enabling us to crush the rebellion without much delay.
But even now, after Fenada is ours, Nordmen are coming to join up with us. As our numbers grow, so does the burden of administration of our village. It was decided that the leaders of the 4 strongest warbands to contribute to the reconquest of Fenada would share it, and the power that comes with it. We 4, Serfonz, Kengil, Fhear and me, Leiknir, are going to rule over Fenada together, with each of us retaining control over our own ships and warbands, but deciding the fate of our Fenada together.
The Nordmen did not even have a chance to clean the streets and repair the damage from the battle, when our scouts spotted another army marching towards Fenada, with the clear intend to start a fight. Well, maybe they did mistake us for someone else, but we Nordmen sleep with our armor on, you won't fight naked men here in the morning.
The enemy raiding party tried to set up camp on the hill just outside of Fenada. But you do not raid the Nordmen, the Nordmen raid you. We sallied out and had the gods decide their fates.
The raid on the Serfs (Chapter 2)
Leiknir the Conqueror began the original attacks on the Northern Caldarian Coast, he took Fenada then Kwynn and finnaly his conquest came to a final end at Sargoth as during the battle he was surrounded by the enemy and died as a true Nordmen at the front of the battle in combat, but he was not without an heir, Leifr Leiknirsson rose to take his fathers place defending the Nord lands from all attackers. Recently Leifr has lusted to follow in his Fathers footsteps and make his own Legacy leaving his Fathers Lands to the top trusted commanders. Kengil the Slayer and Serfonz the Cruel. After putting the new Leadership in order Leifr took his 30 top bodyguards and headed to Fenada to take his Fathers ship and raid the coast as his father did.
In the darkened Hall of Sargoth only a map could be seen in the middle of a large Circular table.. A map of Caldaria marked with the territories of friend and foe and of those still rebelling against old Kings passed, a large muscular man in heavy metal armour steps into the light and points to Curin Castle, and speaks "There, that is our next conquest."
The village bells of Kwynn and Fenada rung deep, all could hear, a Nordic warrior wearing a Byrnie and a helmet of the bodyguards stepped up. "Peasants, a new order has come from Sargoth, you are to begin mining operations immediately, all resources will be transported to Sargoth and yet another army shall be raised, our eyes are for Curin Castle now.
After weeks of discussion the Nordmen decided it was best to use their overflowing coffers to pay a band of heavy mercs to take the Castle and they saved their supplies for a true conquest, one not from Rebels. After much discussion they found their target, a land occupied by mere Serfs who had managed to build up a Kingdom for themselves, after much planning, the Nordmen unleashed a devastating invasion into the Serfs territory, Kengil was commanding the Nordic forces who assaulted the village of Aldelen and Serfonz forces headed to Kulum while their brave and trusted Allies the DenBitre launched a Northern assault on Buillin.
Kengils forces reached Aldelen and launched a devastating attack wiping the Serfs out and capturing the village. Serfonz on his march to Kulum was intercepted by a large army of the Serfs and was forced into battle outnumbered but after a long fight yet another victory, Serfonz then marched his troops to Aldelen to take refuge and rest.
DenBitres early morning raid on Buillin was also successful although outnumbered they fought hard and gained a heroic victory.
Upon Serfonz arrival Kengil marched his army out of Aldelen towards Kulum leaving it to Serfonz troops but when he arrived the Serfs had abandoned the village, Kengils forced disappointed marched in and took the village.
After much wine was drunk over their glorious victory over the Serfs a scout came bursting into the room, a Inquisition has formed and wants the heads of our Leaders for destroying these peasants! Serfonz the Cruel rushed back to Fenada where the Inquisition aimed their attack and arrived in time to secure the defences and get his troops in place, the Inquisition attacked the village with the thought of retribution burnt into their eyes but the Nordmen where far too strong, and they overcame and repelled each attack the Inquisition threw at them, until the word was called to charge out and attack their main force and after a lengthy battle, the Nordmen remained standing and the Inquisition destroyed.
The great war (Chapter 3)
To be written down, but during this time Leiknir, son of Leifr, grandson of the original Leiknir returned to reclaim what was his birthright.
Who are we?
We started as a small band of SeaRaiders in the region of Fenada, but over time we evolved to the strongest Nord themed faction in Strategus, currently owning 9 villages, 2 towns and 2 castles spread over the map, the Sargoth area in the north and trough war spoils the area of Shariz in the far south. Our colour on the strategus map is
teal.
We use the SeaRaider_ tag ingame and you see us using the nordic raven banner (or the nordic pidgin banner, if you miss the awesome custom banner pack):
Nordic raven:
You are a lone Nord Warrior who just left Nordland to try your luck in Calradia, in need of a new warband?
If you want to join us, travel to Fenada on the strategus map and #Fenada on quakenet (IRC, you can use the "chat" button in strategus to open a webclient, then type "/join #fenada" to join our channel).
There is always space in our shieldwall for another Nord, just spend some time with us, and if you do not prove yourself to be a retard/spy, you are welcome.
You may use our banner while you are a youngling (and have to, so you get placed in our team thanks to the auto-banner balance), but to be considered a true SeaRaider and to gain the right to wear the tag you will need 3 SeaRaiders to give you approval, and no one to speak out against you. You can request a vote about your application after atleast 1 week of hanging around. We are no bunch of elitist people only looking for top skilled people, we are looking for people able to teamplay who fit into our group. Skill is more easy to train than the will to be a teamplayer, even a peasant with a pitchfork is useful in formation.
As we are involved in multiple wars, there will be plenty of strategus battles for all of us.
What we look like
Easiest way to describe us would be like the Nords and Searaiders from Native. Most of us did go the way of the Huscarl, going heavy infantry with some throwing. Sometimes you even spot an archer or two, seldom cavalry, never a horse archer.
