Updated the first post with the date of when the clan was created.

From what I know, we're actually the oldest clan with active members in cRPG. The only older clan I know of is Order of Staffmen, and they don't really have any members except Weren(who is totally badass).
This info is based on the old cRPG forum's "Clan Overview" thread. Which listed all the clans. That existed back in July last year.

Well, I checked it again.
This is what was written July 12th, when the thread was started:

Would it be possible to start a guild of caravan guards, who can hire themselves out to protect caravans?

Then on July 29th the same post was edited the last time, so that it eventually looked like this:

Name: Caravan Guild, or Merchant's Guild, haven't decided yet.
Tag: Just add guard somewhere in your tag

Joining: Post here if you want to join. Anyone can join, please post your character build (doesn't have to be exact, just what you play as - eg. 2hander, horse archer etc). Any level can join, it isn't an elite guild. You can also have one character as a caravan guard, and another as something else (we allow part timers).

Banner: Haven't decided yet

Hierarchy (and memberlist, small so far - looks a bit sad, but I promise more people are joining )
Townsman: Guard_Sir_Alexander, Guard_Topsnus, Guard_Arkle

The Guild:

So this will be a guild of merchants and guards, dedicated to making sure that Caravans have a safe journey through the land. Obviously this guild will become useful once strategos is released, but you can still join now.
We will hire out our services to factions and landowners in need of protection for their goods, or we will trade our own goods to make a profit
We will also act as a small, affordable mercenary company when there is no trading to be done.

The way I see the guild working is as a reliable place for lower level characters (or characters without a clan to back them up) to find employment, so they can make some money and gain some levels. Then once they are stronger, they can choose to join a faction who will take them, or a more elite mercenary company, or they can stay on with the dedicated caravan guards like me

there where some people stating that there already where guard tags ingame before that, i think it was lisa or thomek.
i was clanless at that time and didn't care to notice, so don't remember ^^

mkay, i just remember this being discussed already in some older thread on the forum a couple months back i think.
but seriously it's fine to be in one of the oldest clans, even if it may have been only 2nd or 3rd ^^

btw. how did you view the old taleworld crpg forum? can't get to see it anymore since we changed to this one...

Just dropping by to correct this thread:P

1. Order of the staffmasters
2. Guards (days/weeks after staff)
3. Ninja (few days after ^)
4. Rose (Day after ^)

Those were the first clans in cRPG, others came days if not weeks later.

Wrong.

I checked this back when the old forums were still alive.  I also confirmed with others playing in that time-period / irc.
 Guards were the first real clan in cRPG, although not the most active one (like templars had 80++ people when growl were leading it).

(Reason i checked this, was because i thought ninjas were the oldest living clan in cRPG, but it turned out bane created guards before thomek made his ninja clan. I was a bit surprised too, thought he created his after ninja, rose & templars.

Last but not least, i checked EVERY clan thread on the old forum )

but if u have the real dates and stuff, i guess that settles it more clearly Khorin.
